The land line was hooked up! This time I was awake to answer the door. Too bad I had to work tonight, missed the dance but made some good bucks. Called Lisa but she wanted me to call her on the 5th.

JANUARY 25, 2010 First day at the new Papa John's location was good. the Drivers area reminds me so much of Southern and McClintock. The equipment seems to be all new. Plus we now sell some things called Pizza Rolls. Mike suggested a driver door and I passed it on to Brian. He seemed to think it was a good idea. They have the drivers only door at Pizza Hut at Lndsay and Broadway.

Took it easy but had a good night at work. Made just over $32 in tips. Took a nap, woke up at 12:07 and missed the new year!! Oh well.

Coffee place gave me my check and said come back Monday. Coming down with something I really wouldn't have minded getting off early but I got more hours. Did trash (and then dishes when Nicole checked the schedule and found I was supposed to be late driver).

Good friends at Native New Yorker were gonna treat me to dinner. Got a test saying they were heading home cuz it was dead. I txted 'em back saying I weas still there, then another text about some dude Karaokeing Freebird and it was picking up, then they said they were on their way. I was treated to fish and chips dinner and some cash for the video game thing. Gave two dudes a ride home and one guy gave me a $5. Very worthwhile trip. Dude said he'd see me there tomorrow night.

At 4:29 PM, the electric bill was PAID OFF!!! I celebrated with a USA Today and a Venti Gingerbread Latte at the Starbucks inside Safeway.

We got off at 11:30. Didn't see Katy at Gompers. The SRP Machine at Safeway is now on the blink and I had to use the one at Southern and Val Vista. 18 bucks to clear the bill; I put 17 in and got the bill down to 37 cents.
I heard on the radio that they're pulling the image of Brittany Murphy off of the red box DVD machines. they had the DVD to Deadline at Blockbuster. Maybe I could make a few bucks on eBay.

Worked 6 to 6 again. GOT PAID! Managed to put $22 onto the SRP card and got the bill down to $7.17, which means I have paid off exactly $900. The SRP machine at the Safeway I go to wasn't accessing any accounts so I had to use the one at Southern and Val Vista. Was so busy running around tonight that I missed both NCIS's.

Guy came this afternoon to finish draining the pool. I couldn't stay to chat; had to pick up my Papa John's check and get to the payday loan place.

Went to the dance. John was Santa, another staff member dj'd. Her computer was too slow so she didn't want to chance uploading the mp3's I offered. Maybe in January, when the dances start up again. I got a Christmas cookie for Ashley. I told Brian why I missed the last dance, and he told me that Katy was there! ARRRRRGH! I shoulda scrounged up the four bucks!
Kelsea called her dad to pick her up at Taco Bell. Danielle and I decided to go there and wait with her until her dad showed up.

Ok. I'd put $16 in the bank account this afternoon to cover the newsviper fee. After checking it at Gamers' Inn, I found I was still 71 cents short of the required amount! Not having enough in my PayPal account, I had to think fast. I decided to transfer $5 from my savings to more than cover the automatic withdrawal. Let's hope this works . . .

First scene of NCIS rerun I hadn't seen really freaked me out. Parents were putting a baby to sleep, then while they were talking in the other room they heard the baby start to cry over the monnitor, then an adult voice in a creepy way said, "help meeeee..." this was like watching a horror movie! NCIS: LA was a rerun I'd seen before.

Glad I worked tonight. Got $36.10 in tips. One thing that really hurt was getting stiffed by a neighbor.

Well, I couldn't afford the trip to England of course, so I just wished Lena a happy (what would have been her) 46th birthday. A bit late though.

Missed a full moon by one day I think. Instead of being Papa Joke, it was Papa JAMS at work tonight! 13 deliveries and $60.21 in tips! Haven't seen numbers like that since September!

This could have had the makings of a 9/21/81 I thought. Started out great. Paid off the payday loan! Also, told the loan people about the hypertension $$ I get every month and now I'm approved to borrow up to $450! Only borrowed $350 though; not sure if I can make the payments for a $450 loan yet.

Bought carnations at Safeway, kept 'em in the trunk. Wound up picking up Stacey AND Danielle. Christina was at the dance dressed as a cheerleader. Later, after Sandra and Kelsea were in the car, I gave the flowers to Christina. After dropping off everyone else, Kelsea and I went to Chrstina's and met Dale and Shelley there. Stayed til 2:33. Got gas for $2.35 (last chance to get it that low I think).

At the payday loan place I called Teramar to see if they had any work for me tomorrow. they said come down there at 5 and see if they can send me out. Probably won't do that yet; low on finances and that varicose vein still hurts.

I knew I couldn't do any worse at work tonight. Getting 3 deliveries and $6.24 in tips ($8.54 once charge was factored in) made me feel like I made a lot of money. God has a way of putting things in perspective and making you appreciate small amounts.

I hit rock bottom tonight -- the lowest possible amount one can earn at Papa John's. I had one delivery and they stiffed me. Total take home $1.15 for the delivery and I only got a buck of that!

The Peoria Dance has gone digital -- no more CD's to be played. Heard a better selection of music (including 2Unlimited's Are You Ready For This?
I also got to dance with Kelsea and held her hand on the way to the snack door. Met someone named Christina, who was Kelsea's friend. She asked me if I was dating Kelsea and I said "I wish" then she told me Kelsea said we were! How about that -- I have a girlfriend and didn't even know it!

Pastor touched on an important fact tonight -- Abraham praying for Sodom and Gomorrha. Later I stayed for the second prayer gathering and prayed for the souls of those whose last night on earth is tonight.

Was tasked to clean the rollers on the line at Warren. Thought I was going to get off at 11:30; Maria said I could leave if I wanted to. I decided to stay until 1:30 so I could get 40 hours. Then I talked to Bob about it and he seemed to recommend staying as long as everyone else; overtime doesn't happen too often these days. I decided to stay until 4; switching to a different task after he said I should. I did some straightening out of the coffee on the pallets and re-stocking until 4. I would up with 42 hours and 30 minutes work at that job for the week -- the first overtime since at least 2005! Should be no problem with the payday loan next week -- God times things perfectly doesn't He?

Danielle treated me to China Star; food was good but I ate too much. Dance was ok; had a little fun (John played Song 2 off the Blur CD I brought!). Would have been boring had Ashley not been there.

After a 3rd full day at work I watched Adam 12. Richard came home and I laid down and he watched the rest of the episode. Around 6:30 or shortly thereafter I was out like a light. Didn't want to snore during prayer meeting.

Called city of Mesa and managed to get the water bill payment date changed to the 19th. Wouldn't have had any money for the rest of the week, probably. Also got to hear a pretty nifty sax version of XTC's Mayor of Simpleton (one of my faves during the Erik and Kelly fiasco) while on hold.

Bob said we're working Wednesday, Thursday and possibly Friday. Good, because the payday loan is fully due on the 16th! Also got called in to Papa John's, but I only had two deliveries and made less than five bucks take home.

Went to findagrave.com and left a message on Lena's site. She passed away ten years ago today. Because I didn't find out until last year, I am still kicking myself for not keeping up on her career.

Probably not working Wednesday. Good news at the Treasurer's office: it's only 1.33333% interest for late property tax payments, and I don't have to worry about a knock on the door -- at least not til foreclosure in two or three years lol. Only did 2 deliveries tonight but got a $4 tip and a $10 tip! At Whataburger, I was in the drive-thru line for about 25 minutes and shut the engine off twice.

Before I left work to go home I heard part of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds on KOOL FM. Tonight I found out there really was a Lucy, and she has just passed away at age 46. RIP Lucy.

Went to Phoenix today. Sandra bought me lunch at Caramba's but I only ordered a tamale and soda. Rene' told me something scary on the phone about how Sam saw a story on the news about the govt being broke and people who are late on their property tax payments are being asked to move out. I might have to do an emergency evacuation.
Good news: Spark fuel went down again -- to 2.35 -- and I put $23 in the tank.

Made it to Gompers just in time to see Sandra. Also saw Ashley and gave someone in her van a copy of the dance schedule. Katy left early! :( Her mom took her to a movie. Picked up Danielle and she treated me to my first meal at a Culver's. Butterburger was pretty good, as were the fries. Later we went to Wal-Mart and picked up Sandra for the dance.

Dance was pretty much unremarkable; none of us won cakes. Got to talk to Karlea and Ashley for a bit though. On the way home, Danielle mentioned dollar drinks at McD's. I took advantage of this and also got a McChicken.

Got the the courthouse in time, trial hadn't started yet. The hottie prosecutor talked to me for a bit and she let me review the statement I'd made on March 8. Trial was dismissed when the victim didn't show up. Deposited $50 in BofA, paid Geico and went to McD's. At Gamers' Inn, I found out my Wells Fargo checking account had been closed. Shoulda waited to get the extra gas: Spark fuel went down to 2.39 today!
Most of the rest of the day was spent sleeping because I was up about 20-odd hours on the 23rd. When I went to Gamers around midnight, the web kept going down.

September 23 is remembered for three notable events: in 1981, Jennifer Pauling dropped the bombshell that she did'nt feel the same way about me as I did about her. This ended my life's best period so far, which had only started on the 18th when I met her. Something good happened the same day she kicked me off cloud nine though: Megan was born. Probably the most important reason I mark the 23rd is because on that day in 1983, I finally walked away from a bad situation with an evil roommate. Life got better after that. 9/23/83 is remembered as Liberation Day for that reason, and perhaps is the only 'personal holiday' that is actually of any importance to me. I heard Talking Heads' Burning Down The House twice on the radio. This is ironic because it came out around that time. Second time couldn't listen all the way through, had to deliver to Falcon Glen.

Today was a good day. I worked a third day at Warren, for the second week in a row. Also, I got paid and got my gas gauge closer to the F than it had been in a while. Left happy birthday message on Megan's voice mail. I also got to work at Papa John's until closing and it was one of the easiest nights I'd had.

Had a doozy of an order tonight. A new customer called and ordered a coupon offer. She only had a $50, and when I explained we only carry $20 in change she ordered more stuff to get the total up. I delivered the pizzas and cinnapie to her, then when I got back, the mgr told me I forgot to put extra icing on the cinnapie and the lady complained. I had forgotten to put any icing on it! Mgr made a free cheese pizza for the lady and I decided I'd sneak the bottle of icing out and correct the problem.

When the mgr went out to smoke a cigarette, I made my move. I slipped the bottle of icing into the hot bag and made sure she did not see it when I went out to my car. Then, with an adrenaline rush and the song Kryptonite blaring over Mix 96.9, I headed down to the home doing mostly 50 in a 45. I knocked on the door and heard the lady's husband yelling at the daughter not to go out the front. She came around the side and I asked her to go get the cinnapie. Soon the garage door opened and the three of them came out. The daughter (who looked kind of like Jamie's younger sister as a teen) held the cinnapie while I put icing on it. The people were grateful for the free pizza and the icing. When returned to Papa John's I put the bottle of icing back when the mgr wasn't looking and no one was the wiser.

Despite the fact that I might have done something wrong, everyone came out a winner: The family got a free pizza, the Cira clone got her icing and I regained some self-respect correcting a mistake I had made. Besides, going the extra mile might have been good for Papa John's image. Later I fed the SRP meter and got the car's gas tank up to full. Without a doubt, this is one of the best Liberation Days I've had in a long time.

I have to work tomorrow so I didn't get paid today. It'll be better in the long run though. Dave R. loaned me $5 to keep me in gas, food or electricity. NCIS premiere was good, texted Sandra all the way through it. New show NCIS: Los Angeles wasn't bad. Having Rocky Carroll on video screen was a good move on their part. Richard came home late and gave me $10 to keep things going.

It has now been 28 years since my life peaked. I'll never forget just after class let out at 11:50 that day, the look on Dave And Rick's faces when they saw me holding hands with Jennifer. Boy I really showed those guys! Still hoping for a chance to top that day. A 1989 attempt was thwarted by Erik Kellstrom; another try in 2004 had to be called off when Karen caught bronchitis and couldn't see me.

Went down to BofA,found out that Yahoo! charged me twice, 2nd was regular billing cycle. Still the lady chose to remove the overdraft fees. Even in times like these, there are still people helping me and there is still good news.
Bad news was that Papa John's sent me home because it was dead tonight. Called Power and McDowell, even though mgr was busy they didn't need another driver. Neither did the other two stores I called. There was good news still: Mgr let me make a pizza and take it home! Also, made my first sale on eBay.

Got paid today! Next check will be bigger! The guyt in the van didn't show up so I wasn't able to cash my check right away. Anyways, that's not important. I met Dale, Shelley and Rene' at 7-Eleven at 52nd St. and Thomas, and found out that Jamie is getting engaged on Christmas.
It's just one thing after another....

OK night at work tonight, made adequate tips. Nothing really noteworthy happened except I got a bit more hours due to being late driver (unscheduled for that). When I got home, Richard's boom box was playing but he was nowhere to be found.

Paid Ricky the remaining $35. Ashley was at the dance. I wore my NYFD 9/11 shirt. Saved 2 cheeseballs, one pretzel and a pretzel bit for Ashley.

GOOD NEWS: FINALLY got new battery installed in the car! Paid Ricky the rest of the $75 he charged and let him hold the DVDR again as collateral. Ahh, the freedom now! No more jump starts!

Killian was at the dance tonight, wearing a cowboy hat. Good to see her. She was very friendly and even helped out the staff by picking out recyclables from the trash. She even told me where she'd be next Friday.

For the one-year anniversary of my run-in with Dave, I went to Famous Sam's. Not much different, but the video game price is now 3 for a buck instead of 4. A little after midnight I drove to the Cricle K parking lot and went in. the look on Dave's face seemed to be one of surprise. I asked him if htey had phone cards for Page Plus. He just said no we don't have Page Plus. I turned and said ok thank you. Hee hee, I wonder if he remembered me. Anyways, it might be time to move on.

Oh man, check was only $44.34 today. Payday loan payment was $44.11. I couldn't get any temp checks from Wells Fargo because my account is negative.

Mike Clark gave the message today. He was ordained last Tuesday. There was also a fellowship afterward and I had baked chicken, beans, corn and some dessert, and a muffin. Went to Palmcroft later in the evening, had to get a jump start at church. Kept motor running at the gas station and at Whataburger, but I kept an eye on the car.

Finally put that support thing on my left leg. Went to Gamers and put my name on a debt relief site. Ate a plain hot dog from QT and am drinking some Arrowhead water. Saw more videos. I have an idea about how to stop those automatic debts from killing my account -- simply get another one!
Went to Gompers, saw Sandra and Katy. Had to get a jump start for the car. Dance was great tonight -- many people there including Katy. Also saw Ciera and Jennifer there. New girl named Killian danced with me, but I'm not sure she's coming back. Got three pics of Katy.

Went to Gamers and watched some YouTube stuff. Videos and more about Lena. We finally got some rain! Slept too long in the day. Did almost nothing later. Trying to stay off that foot until the cut heals, but I did walk to Safeway to make a call to an 800 number (better than 12 cents a minute on this phone) but the operators were all busy so I shopped for a bit and called the other debt relief number. They have a website so I was going to use that instead.

Finally got the Google check cashed. Paid Ricky $60 now I only owe him $70. check engine light problem is correcting itself; he seemed to hint it would.
Didn't have much prayer tonight because of a business meeting. Told Pastor about my vein problem.

Worked both jobs today, took the truck to work and it worked just fine. For the third week in a row it was a TWO-DAY work week at Warren.
Called Ricky and he said that the check engine light isn't anything major. Only did two deliveries (one took a while because I didn't see a building behind another building and I hobbled around the wrong way in the apartment complex; Gina asked what took too long). Got to see NCIS again. Richard also spent the night.

Car worked fine for a while but I couldn't start it at lunch so my noon meal was a Coke. I got a jump from Ramon after 4 pm and took the truck to Papa John's.

After church we ate at Wendy's. I'm not too fond of that place but decided to give their new boneless wings a chance. I won't be doing that again. Had a problem there, and stomach problems kept me up all night.

Got gas early in the morning and went to Wal-Mart. On the way home the check engine light came on. Didn't drive the truck the rest of the day except to give my car a jump start. Used the car for deliveries.
Called David and talked for a while. Also tried to make my annual call to Carrie in Oregon (I do this every 8-8) but she wasn't home.

I got to Stacy's and they said she was at Darla's. Oops, I mighta goofed big time. Picked up Sandra and we got to the dance about 7:15 or so. Ashley was there but no Kelsey. After doing the dime thing to Marvin Gaye and jamming out to Thorogood I got to dance with Ashley.

Lots of running around today. Got a call from Papa John's (Ricky the mechanic paid a visit to Gina) and talked to them both. Ricky was concerned, he didn't want me to lose my job.
At the payday loan place, I got approved for a bigger loan (couldn't get the Google check cashed though) and drove to the check cashing place by Papa John's to try and cash the Google check but didn't have time to fill out the app. I drove to the mechanic and was able to pick up the truck, paying $220 of the $350 and leaving my DVD recorder as collateral. When it got cooler, I walked back and got the car. Bought two Dasanis, a chili cheese dog, USA TODAY and a $1.29 Perrier at QT. Thank you James for that jump start after church!

The truck is fixed, but I don't have quite enough money to get it out of the shop. Walked over to church tonight. Message was on 2 Corinthians 4 - we have a "ministry" no matter where God puts us. Got a jump start on the car from James Mohler tonight. Hopefully it's just the battery. Maybe I can work tomorrow. Prayer seems to work!

Took the bus/rail/bus to work again. This tine I made the 4:25 or so bus. Beautiful scenery on the light rail going west through Tempe. On the 3 bus (Van Buren) a guy got on with 3 bags of uncrushed aluminum cans. He almost crowded a guy with an assistance dog. I got to 43rd/VB early and was able to go to Circle K and have a sausage/egg/pancake thing. Someone gave me a ride to work when I was walking down 41st. Policed boxes all day. At lunchtime, the time cards weren't in their slots so I guess we got paid for lunch. Before 4:00 Elsa gave me my paycheck and said come back Monday (Just like last week!) Probably for the best; I don't know how long I can keep this bus thing up.
the Van Buren bus was nicer and unusually sparse on the way home. I dozed off on the light rail and decided to take the 40 bus (Apache/Main) from Sycamore to Papa John's. I was told to call Gina. She said if I don't get the truck back by Monday she's letting me go. I must come up with the $350 to get it back. Got a ride home with Cooley. Got to see NCIS tonight (watched KOLD 13 until it gave out, then switched to KPHO). Richard spent the night here.

Missed the first bus. The next one didn't stop at Safeway corner due to road construction, but the guy waited for me on Lindsay. As soon as I got on the bus I felt dizzy. AC was on too high and I got off at Stapley because I felt really bad. Laid down on the bench at the bus stop until I felt better. Then I caught the 30 bus back home and called Toni and told her I would be in at noon. This would also enable me to get an all-day pass at Safeway.
It only took a little over 90 minutes to get to work, I found out from the driver of #30 that I could take the light rail to the #3 bus. My first trip on the light rail was uneventful and rather pleasant. On the 3 bus, I think the person I was sitting next to was a transvestite. Some lady overpaid and had some of us laughing, when she was going on and on about the fares.
I policed boxes til 4, and called the mechanic. It's going to set me back $350. At least he was able to save the alternator. I also called Papa John's and told them I wasn't going to be in. I got a ride to the bus stop. Lively bunch on the Van Buren bus on the way back, I sat in the middle of one of those bendable buses. Lots of people on the bus. At First Avenue I bought another all-day pass for tomorrow. Light rail trip was ok going home, but the 30 bus seemed to take forever, it stopped at almost every stop. Saw most of House on TV tonight.

Couldn't go to Phoenix today. Walked to Church tonight. Service was good. Later I went to Albertsons and saw Alicia (from church) there. She mentioned I could get all-day bus passes at Safeway. This could save me some bucks tomorrow. Had to go to bed early; it would be taking a long time to get to west Phoenix in the morning.

I put a little ice in a bag to keep the chocolates cold, and had a cold cup on top of the box. I went to Gompers and gave a dance schedule to the van driver, with some info on the dance policies. She went and must have told Sandra that I was there. Sandra came out, and after talking for a bit we went in and soon I observed Katy leaving. I talked to her as she was walking to the van. First she seemed reluctant to accept the box but there must have been so much going on. I walked with Sandra to her van and gave her a hug before she got on. Afterwards I went over to the other van and got the chocolates to Katy. While I was at Gompers I gave out every dance schedule I had. Then it was on to 7th St. to make another payment on the auto loan.
Later I went to Arby's at 35th and Bell and had the 2 for 5 deal with Beef and Cheddars. I called the mechanic who told me the electrical system was damaged in the truck. With loads of extra time, I called Tim and went over to his group home down the road and we visited for a while. Then it was off to the dance. Didn't see Katy, Ashley or Danielle but saw Kelsey there.

Still unable to get the truck running. I changed out the battery but that didn't work. Found out the old one was still good. Went to the mechanic and he towed it to the shop.

At work today, they gave me my paycheck and said come back Monday! Man, I didn't think business was THIS slow!!! Two jobs and three days off in a row -- what a concept!
Tonight there was a major event. I was getting ready to deliver a pizza to Broadway when it happened. In between the building and Checker Auto, the engine stopped and smoke came up. I thought the truck had seized up. Later I checked the oil, expecting the worst. Nope, it didn't seize up; there was still some oil in it and besides it was an electrical problem I was having. I added a quart and left the truck by Sherwin Williams overnight. Couldn't fix it despite the efforts of me, Richard or a fellow driver named Scott who happened by.

I gave myself plenty of time to pick up Stacy, but when I got there she hadn't planned on going. It was miscommunication. Dance was ok, I won some stuff at the carnival thingy, like two heart-shaped boxes of chocolates (a little one and a big one.) I gave the little box to Sandra. It only had four pieces in it and she finished them there. Later I Gave Danielle a ride home.

Finally finished reading the Terms and conditions for PayPal...had a rough time of it what with Alicia calling me and two guys at terminal 1 getting into a game...and this other guy reciting rules to another game....James Mohler popped in this morning and I chatted with him for a bit. I got the PayPal account and did a test transfer of $3. Later this afternoon I filled out an app for Napa Auto Parts and went to Gamers and talked with Yahoo! and they said I could use my debit card. Guy said he'd push a button to get my site un-suspended. Now I gotta work on NewsViper!

I got home a few minutes before midnight and was able to record KPHO's last analog program, the news. then they flipped over to a program which talked about needing a converter if you're seeing this message. this played endlessly in English, then Spanish.

Talked to Sandra on the phone today. I asked her to put Tori on, hoping to talk to Katy. When I asked Tori if Katy was there she said out loud, "Katy?" so I decided not to ask her to put Katy on the phone. I got to Gompers around 2:46 but almost everyone had left.

PROOF THAT GOD EXISTS (#3): Richard was in the drive-thru at Taco Bell and when he got to the window, the person said that the car ahead of him had paid for his order!!!

Got $20 from Richard for the M-Power. Went down to Chase and tried to get a loan. Hopefully they'll call me back in a day or two.

Prayer meeting had so many people tonight that they had to bring in extra chairs! Possibly because the Clarks were here from Alaska. I wish it was like this every week!

28th anniversary of the beginning of the Winslow Saga. I did 6 deliveries tonight, taking home a little over $25. Was asked to give Nicole a ride home but her other half showed up. Saw Tom Hanks and Green Day on Conan's second show. Talked to David in Mayer for a little over 41 minutes; found out that Casey has a boyfriend, but she would still like to meet me.

Didn't do much this Memorial Day, but David and bro came by to look at the car. Engine isn't that bad, his bro says.
Lots of coverage about our fallen heroes today. On World News Now, they even showed part of a reading of names of war dead. I heard the name "Bradley, Richard" and hoped they'd repeat World News Now on channel 15. I recorded it when it was on in the early AM; haven't watched it yet but I hope it showed the same scene.

Called the original David (Allyson's one) and he told me that Casey is out of town visiting relatives.

Richard and Rene' gave me a ride to Darla's to pick up the truck. I drove it but took it back there because I'd forgotten my glasses. I walked down to University Drive. On the way, at Brown, there was a funeral procession. I took the bus home and later took the bus back, to Horne St., then walked the rest of the way. I returned Stacy's travel mug and they gave me a glass of water. Darla said she tried to reach me, she was in the funeral procession and had seen me standing on the corner. I relaxed there for a while and saw most of the movie "High Fidelity" with John Cusack.

Went around to different AutoZone places to get parts for the brakes. The car is now FIXED thanks to David and his bro. What's more, David's bro is taking auto mechanic shop at MCC and needs an engine to practice on. I've got one, in the ancient Corolla Diesel that hasn't been moved in 15 years! If only Dad were alive to see this.
Katy was at the dance for second week in a row -- she came with someone else and stayed til the beginning of "Tequila" -- CALL GUINNESS! Also I got to lip sync April Love again.

Went to the garage this morning and the truck battery was DEAD. Charger is over 25 yrs old so I bought a new one at Checker Auto. Couldn't get through to work; phone lines weren't up yet. Finally got Gina and told her I was going to be late. Tried push-starting the truck two or three times. Nothing. In the afternoon I gave up on the battery and walked down to Papa John's.

Went with Russell on his delivery. Neighborhood was kind of run down. Across the street, some kids were kicking an underinflated, squooshy green rubber playground ball. Kinda sad in a way, but they did appear to be having fun.
Russell dropped me off at Auto Zone after his delivery. I bought the battery and was going to walk to the bus stop at Gilbert but just went to the Harris stop due to the battery's weight. Had light conversation with Hispanic man waiting for the bus. Two purple buses passed us before a third, smaller bus stopped. Driver explained that the purple ones only stop at major intersections.
I got back to Papa John's and went with Don on his delivery and he then took me to my home. Had to hunt for the wrench but found it on my desk. After that, wasn't too much work getting the old battery off, used a plumbing type wrench to loosen the positive clamp. New battery works fine. Did three deliveries tonight, rained almost non-stop but not too heavy. Got to go to Scottsdale to pick up 15 trays of large dough balls, and four bundles of large boxes. After work, took two partial leftover pizzas to Gamers Inn, where they went over well.

Now this is more like it. Refund check cleared plus I got huge tips from the school deliveries. Fed SRP monster well. Truck battery gave me minor problems; I had to push start it once when leaving a school delivery. Later parked on inclines in back of store just in case. Tonight, Pastor talked about when adversity strikes; quoted part of Job. We must remember not to curse when unexpected bad things happen, even though it is natural to do so. But Job worshipped instead and was richly blessed in the end.

Was off today. Not much energy. Still waiting for refund check to clear. Drove to Cash-n-Go and paid $100 toward loan. Check postdated May 21 but they are ok with that. Tonight, as NCIS was starting, Tim called me. I was irked at the timing; I had hoped to catch an opening scene for the first time in a while. But I didn't blow up at Tim; he didn't know.
Sandra hasn't called me. Is she mad?

Turck wouldn't start this morning, had to charge it up. Plus I had signed up to bring the snacks to Singles group. I showed up about 45 mintues late and felt like two cents. Good news, the donuts went over well, nothing was wasted, and the class held nothing against me. Truly a Godly group.

Went to Carlos O'Brien's for lunch, Richard spotted me $5 for the meal. Rene' even gave me some of her food to take home with the stuff I couldn't finish. Tonight at church, Mike told me to back off of Janet because he is now dating her. Sandra is probably relieved now that Janet is no longer a threat. But I did something stupid tonight before the church program started. I wanted to sit by the aisle, but Sandra wanted me to sit with her and I said a no-no. Mike or Shelly told her about it.
David still hasn't talked to Casey; hopefully by this Tuesday.

Overall the Peoria dance was good this time. Katy and Rachel were there, as was Ashley. I took the car because I picked up Stacy and her bf David. I got to lip sync to the Pat Boone song, and that went over VERY well. I left the car over at David's and Darla took me home. The brakes are so bad it almost hurts to hear them grind.

Cat came in the house and he ate all Minx's food. He eventually climbed on a windowsill and yowled a bit. I shut the door to the garage. I thought the cat seemed zilched my all that had transpired so I let him out. He expolred the back yard and then took off.
Today I went down to the Maricopa County Treasurer's Office building and showed the receipt for the Property tax. Good news -- it's not delinquent and I don't have to pay any interest.
I called Tina and told her what happened, she said he takes off for a couple days and comes back.

NCIS was a surprise tonight, wonder what Ziva's gonna do next week.

I gave Conrad another Peoria Dance schedule. Would be nice if he showed up there. Stacy called while we were at Taco Bell. I'm going to pick her up Friday and take her to the dance. She can stay until 9:30 that way, and she gets to watch me lip sync.

I went to Tina King's apartment and was able to get the cat. I was trying to get my keys out of my pocket when the cat overpowered me and went towards a fence. I slowly approached it; it hopped on the fence and then over to someone's yard. Tina came out and I think she asked me if I got the cat. I told her what happened. She was eventually able to coax the cat with some food. I drove up to her and she handed me the cat, and I rolled up the window. The cat made a few laps around the cab of my truck but eventually settled down. I called Richard and had him meet me outside. I told him to open the back door and then told him to open the door of my truck. Cat tried to get away but we got him inside and shut the door. He stayed under the Corolla. I brought Minx out there. A few hisses were exchanged but no carnage. Later he ate all Minx's food. He eventually climbed on a windowsill and yowled a bit. I shut the door to the garage. I went to Gamers Inn to watch a YouTube of April Love. I started the voice memo thingy on the phone and held it up to the headphone. Now I can hear it on my cell, this will help me memorize it for Friday. I'll probably sing it to Rachel if she's there.

Worked so long, I almost didn't make it to the dance. Met a lady at an apartment, she had a black and white cat she wanted to get rid of.

John finally found that Pat Boone song I've been looking for -- April Love. I think John wants me to lip-sync it next Friday -- but Sandra told me Katy has a boyfriend at Gompers. Now I have no one to sing it to.

Got to catch some of NCIS tonight. Part 2 of a double episode, and I didn't see Part I, so it was kind of hard to follow. Not sure what to think of Ziva and Rivkin; she might be sleeping with him just to get information. It's kinda hard to think a tough Mossad agent could fall for anyone.

My cousin Judy called me and we talked for 44 minutes and 55 seconds. She hates the weather over there. She wants me to send her a real estate magazine. Would be nice to have family out here. Also need to pray for my cousin Kerri -- she has cancer. =(

Couldn't get much sleep this morning. Went to NPBC after the service and met Sandra, Dale, Shelley and Richard. Went to Quizno's at 7th and Indian School. Caught some z's at the table. We went to the funeral of Sandra's Uncle Ray (1926-2009). Didn't conk out, musta been the leg-bouncer tunes they were playing in the background, plus her talented family. Palmcroft service was good too, PAstor told the donut story that I had read online; I remember how moving the print version was and I had to fight back tears. Stayed awake with some gentle nudging from Sandra. Janet wasn't there but we did talk to Lynn Forman(she's what Lena Zavaroni would probably look like if she were alive today -- check the Hornsea or Basil Brush pics on the site.) Got sleep when I got home but awoke around 1 or so.
(Y'know, if Lynn wasn't about 6 feet tall she could probably play Lena in a film)

Katy wasn't at the dance (I didn't expect her to be; they only come once a month) but Danielle made her third consecutive appearance and showed me her Winnie The Pooh tattoo and another one. Girls up front didn't eat the two pizza slices so I gave them to John and he gave them to someone else. Found out Stacy is in California for a bit (her mom lives there). Richard showed up -- he got his car back!!!!!

SRP guy came by around 7:41 to fix the meter problem. That box is GREAT! I think I'm using about 23¢ an hour, but i haven't run the AC yet.

Margaret called and said she wanted to come by and talk to us. I suggested 1 PM; this would give me plenty of time to straighten out the messy place. She called and said she'd be there about 2; this gave me an extra hour to fix the place up. Kitchen counters were pretty much cleaned and cleared off, Gevalia coffee maker was temporarily stored in my room; Richard vacuumed the living room; many newspapers were put in the recycle bin; some things were moved around. She came by and said how nice we had cleaned. She helped Richard out a lot and paid half of his phone bill. Rene' will appreciate that. I also got the taxes mailed off and we went to the men's group meeting tonight. I put $17 on the M-power meter.

Triple good news today. The SRP guy came by with the M-power box,although there was a little problem with it communicating with the outside meter. I'm getting a REFUND on the Federal tax this year! Also, the auto loan went through and I think the house is going to be saved now. was 7 mins late for work, though; I don't think the mgr on duty cared, he was a guy from another store. People tipped great today. If I hadn't had a touch of a headache I mighta closed for Scott. But I called Mike who works at Southern and McClintock and I can work his Thursday shift.

Went to Lakeside Baptist for the first time in ages. Mark Fugit was at the Challenger Canter telling people where the new location is. I attended the service and saw CNAJean there. Katlyn is walking now! Later took Sandra to Palmcroft but there was no one there. Saw Dale and Shelley at Rene's.

Went in to do some door hanging and get my hours up. Gina told me to put CSD fliers on cars cuz tomorrow's Customer Appreciation Day. Pretty much went without incident, except a guy at Fry's left his on the ground and a lady at Kmart practically had a fit. She was yelling, "HEY! GET THAT PAPER OFF MY WINDOW!"

Dance was okay, but Katy wasn't there *sniff* Saw Tim B. there, he hadn't been there in a long time. Brian was following me around like a puppy dog as usual. Alicia made a rare appearance at the dance but totally ignored me. Her friend Dani gave me a Dr. Pepper as I was on my way to buy Jennifer a water. what goes around comes around hee hee. Also, I won a chocolate cake with jelly beans on top, and Sandra won a cake too.

We took the perishables over to Rene's apt today and she called SRP. I might be getting the M-Power stuff soon. That way I can have a meter and won't get those nasty shut offs, and can pay the bill down over time.

About 8:01 coffeemaker time, they shut the power off. I called SRP and for about $556 or so I can get it back on. I went to Speedy Cash and got a $187 loan. After stopping by home and taking Richard to Albertsons and doing a couple other things, I stopped by Cash-N-Go and got approved for another $165. I was reading some of the contract and I asked the guy about a restriction that was on there. He said state law says I can only have one payday loan out at a time per state. ARRRRRGH! I had to void out that one, and I used the Speedy Cash loan to pay off the PL$ loan and be legal again. SOMEONE PLEEEEEEASE CHANGE THAT LAW!!!!!!
I bought four stick-on lights, and gave Richard his first taste of Gamers Inn.

Ahh, first day off in about two weeks! I should have a big check coming, worknig over 35 hours. Went to Palmcroft. Saw Janet at the night service, she held my hand so I held Sandra's hand to avoid any unpleasantness down the road.

I worked at my store today and Scott asked if I wanted to close. I closed, making another 3/4 ton of money. Hopefully he'll ask me again Wednesday.

I got to work at the Southern and McClintock store today. A guy asked me if I wanted to close, he had school issues. I eventually agreed; I need the $$ to pay the electric bill. Around 11:30 or 12 BOY did we get slammed at that place! I took five deliveries at once, had a bit of a headache and then my neck got sore and it hurt to turn my head. The last delivery was so late they didn't even want the pizza. I called but the phones were shut off. When I got back the mgr said I should have just given them the pizza. On the way home I did just that. They were still up. Richard called wondering where I was, I didn't get home til well after 2.

Met a roommate of Sandra's today; her name is Tori and get this -- she's been to Winslow! She knows some of the people from the Saga!
I set the trash can outside and after a few unsuccessful attempts to light the contents I got it lit. Most of the bees took off for a while, but I didn't want the neighbors to call the fire department so I doused it. The bees started coming back.

Worked another night in Tempe. Another 4 deliveries. Racial stereotypes were shattered. Got a $6 tip from a black guy, then got stiffed by a white couple. Still took home over 17 bucks.

First time working in Tempe at the Southern and McClintock store. Mgr there is really cool. Only did 4 deliveries but got tipped decently. That last delivery I really put my foot in my mouth though. Lady answered the door, she was in her 30s but looked so young that I asked, "Hi, is your mom here?" Lady was kinda cute. Reminded me a little of Diane Proctor.

Couldn't wait much longer for a sale at Fry's electronics. Coupons were due to expire on the 17th. Got two converters, they were kind of on sale anyway marked down from 69.95 to 49.95. Paid 14.15 each for 'em and I got to keep the coupons.

JANUARY 19?, 2009

Interesting night at Safeway. I was near the door where the gift cards hang, and I noticed a rolled up little plastic bag on the floor. I jokingly told a worker that someone had dropped their weed. He picked it up and....it really was weed! Another worker and I went into the office and called the cops as an old guy was using the SRP machine. An officer came by and we all watched a replay of surveillance video. The guy who dropped the weed was the guy who had been at the SRP machine -- and he was long gone now. The officer counted it as "loss of weed even."

DECEMBER 29, 2008

With only four (yes - 4!) hours of work scheduled, I had to do something. I called Gina and asked her if anyone had called off. She said no, but that I was on standby in case they got busy. A bit later my cell rang, and she said that Dean had graciously given up his shift for me. I worked the 5-to-8 shift and a bit after 8 I asked if I could take one more. The manager on duty said ok, and I made a bit more money. When I got back, she said that my going home job was dishes, ensuring that I would spend a bit more time on the job. I got off work about 9:15, having doubled my work hours this week to eight (woohoo!)
I was never so glad to get dishes in my whole life.

After singles' group, I met Dale and Shelley at the QT at 17 and T-bird. Tank was nearly empty so I filled up with $1.43 regular. We all went to visit Alicia and she was tooling around on her new scooter she got for Christmas. We met her parents and then went to the park with her. After this we went and visited Sandra, then went over to Dale and Shelley's to get some tools and back to Sandra's mom's house where Dale fixed a lock on her door. Later her mom served me food while we were watching The Sound of Music.

Picked up Sandra and we went to visit Megan at her sister's. While we were there I called Jamie and let Megan talk to her. We were going to meet Dale, Shelley, Richard and Rene' at Taco Bell but it was closed when we got there and they went to Denny's near Great Skate, which was too far for the time allotted. The three of us went over and visited Jamie for a while.

Ok, cat's back. I went out there around 1:00 this afternoon and he came in. I immediately called Richard and he was relieved.

Well, I had only been scheduled for SIX hours of work this week but I would up doing about 27 according to my count! I was closing driver a couple times or so and this next check should help me towards my goal of paying the SRP electric bill on time. (It's already late.)

Not a bad paycheck this time, and George is back to work. He looks none the worse for wear. Keep praying though.
Richard and I went to a get-together at Great Skate for Bryan's work (NYPD Pizza). I didn't tell anyone that I work for Papa John's. Even though it cost 8 bucks and they didn't serve a pizza like they were going to, it was still nice seeing the old skating rink again.

Got called in to work today, but Gina let me come in after church. Found out later that George, our oldest driver, possibly had a mild stroke! He might be out for awhile and needs prayer.

I finally did something I had thought of a while ago, to trick the Circle K guy into giving me his name. I called up the place. He said something like "Circle K, this is Dave" which is what I thought he said the night of August 23rd. This time, I raised the pitch of my voice a bit and asked "Is Circle K accepting applications?" He NICELY said, "You can do that online, man" but that that store wasn't. My original plan was to get his name and email, burying the complaint in with a compliment about the stores at Val Vista and Main, and Lindsay and University (which were the only two Circle K's I still patronized). The phone call temporarily assuaged my anger.
